So, Bethany Anne and the rest of the group have finished the next step in their journey. I have to finish the editing and fine tuning of the story. ‘Love Lost’ will be released in November, possibly by Black Friday but no later than the 30th.
I’m happy. My goal was to get the first three books finished before I worked on advertising. I missed that a little as I started a small advertising effort to learn how it works just yesterday.
For those who were kind enough to write reviews on the two books so far, a HUGE THANK YOU! Readers have the power to substantially help small indie authors like myself. We (literally) grow our sales by your word of mouth and the time and thought you put into your reviews.
I’m not sure how many readers have read my author’s notes at the back of the books. The Kurtherian Gambit is a series that will go far into the future. This is not a three book series and then we move on. Rather, consider it a very large story cut into bite sized pieces. I won’t be writing 1,000 page books to slog through. Partially because my personality needs to ‘complete something soon’.
However; I have written over 200,000 words and released them in one month. To be fair, only about 170,000 words were written in November. So, all three books (according to Amazon) will be more than 750 pages total if you join them together.
I don’t expect to accomplish that again for a while. My minimum goal is 1 book a month. My slightly stretching it goal is two books a month. Assuming I make half and miss half, I’ll get through 18 books in the next year for The Kurtherian Gambit series.
Want to know about different areas of the story? Speak up! Reach out to me on the Amazon Author page, or Facebook. Heck, I’ve even taken some of the reviewers notes and made sure I answered some of their concerns.
There are a lot of components to this story. A lot of people are needed to make the world safe and I like to touch base with them from time to time. Unfortunately, that means I might fail to inform my readers on an area that YOU find interesting. I’ll gladly go back to an area and flesh it out.
For example, in book three Love Lost, we don’t get to learn much about Gerry and the American Pack Council. Why? Because Bethany Anne is focused on another area. It isn’t that ‘stuff’ isn’t happening with the APC, it is. However; I figure I jump around enough right now. I am reading the latest reviews for John Conroe’s Demon Accord series (which I enjoy a lot). Some readers, however; had a tough time following the two story lines that he wrote. So, I want to be sensitive to those concerns as well.
If I love a series, I don’t want to wait two or three months (which seems like forever to me) before I get my next reading fix. I believe I can complete stories at around this word count consistently.
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving (if you are in the United States). For those readers in Great Britain, Canada and Australia may you have a fantastic finish to your November!
